Black Satellites fight back with 10 men to earn point against Burkina Faso
Ghana’s Black Satellites displayed resilience and determination to hold Burkina Faso to a 1-1 draw in their second Group B fixture of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, on Thursday.
Reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of defender Kofi Junior Kumah, the Black Satellites refused to surrender after falling behind to the Young Stallions. Joseph Badu stepped up to restore parity with a well-taken equaliser as Ghana battled bravely to claim a deserved point at the Lycée Scientifique Stadium.
The result leaves Ghana third in Group B with one point from two matches, with all eyes now turning to a decisive final group encounter against Togo. The Black Satellites will be aiming for victory to finish the tournament strongly.
While the WAFU B U-20 Championship serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana have already secured their place at the continental finals as tournament hosts.
The regional competition nevertheless remains an important stage for the Black Satellites, offering valuable high-level match experience, strengthening team chemistry and providing the technical staff with an ideal opportunity to refine the squad ahead of hosting Africa’s finest young talents next year.
