Ghanaian duo appointed to officiate Côte d’Ivoire-Nigeria WAFU B U20 semi-final

Ghanaian referee Julian Nunoo and assistant referee Theophilus Akugre have been appointed to officiate the WAFU B U20 Boys Championship semi-final between hosts Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria.

Nunoo will take charge as the centre referee, while Akugre has been named Assistant Referee 2 for the last-four encounter at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.

The appointment underlines the growing confidence in Ghanaian match officials, with the duo selected for one of the tournament’s biggest fixtures.

Côte d’Ivoire booked their place in the semi-finals after topping Group A, while Nigeria advanced from Group B following an impressive campaign that included a victory over Ghana.

The winner will secure a place in the final of the regional tournament, with both teams aiming to continue their quest for the title. Nunoo and Akugre will oversee proceedings in what is expected to be a fiercely contested clash between two of West Africa’s traditional football powers.
