Hervé Renard Replaces Lamouchi as Tunisia Seek Revival at World Cup

The Tunisian Football Federation has appointed French veteran Hervé Renard as head coach, replacing Sabri Lamouchi following the team’s 5-1 opening defeat to Sweden at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Lamouchi was dismissed hours after Monday’s heavy Group F loss. Renard, 57, is en route to the squad’s base in Mexico and is expected to take charge immediately for the remainder of the group stage, with potential for a longer-term role.

Tunisia, bottom of the group, face Japan on June 21 and the Netherlands next. A response is urgently needed to stay alive in the expanded tournament.

Renard brings proven pedigree, having won the Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia (2012) and Ivory Coast (2015), and previously managing Morocco at the 2018 World Cup and Saudi Arabia in qualifying. His arrival aims to restore defensive structure and motivation to the Carthage Eagles.

An official announcement is imminent.
