Queiroz’s 23-Man Mexico Mission Squad Revealed

The Ghana Football Association has selected a 23-player squad for the upcoming friendly against Mexico, combining experienced senior players with promising young talents.

Coach Carlos Queiroz has selected a diverse squad of top performers from the domestic Ghana Premier League and various European leagues, along with several U-23 players expected to compete in the upcoming Olympic Games qualifiers.

Key inclusions are Majeed Ashimeru, who returns to the national team after a prolonged absence due to a muscle injury, and Felix Afena-Gyan whose most recent appearance for the Black Stars was in May 2025 against Trinidad and Tobago during the Unity Cup in London.

The squad includes promising young players currently in Europe: Abdul Aziz Issah (Barcelona B), Ebenezer Annan (AS Saint-Étienne), Ibrahim Osman (Birmingham City), and Paul Reverson (Ajax FC).

Local standout Razak Simpson, captain of Nations FC, has also been selected. Midfielder Salim Adams of Medeama SC, the current Ghana Premier League leaders, leads the home-based team. Ebenezer Abban (Heart of Lions) and Ebenezer Adade (Dreams FC) are also part of the team. Ghana will travel to Mexico for a friendly match on Friday, May 22, 2026.

The fixture provides Queiroz with a valuable opportunity to assess his squad ahead of future competitive commitments.
