Shatta Wale Reacts After Ghana Party in the Park Ends in Tragedy

Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has expressed his sorrow after the annual Ghana Party in the Park festival, branded this year as Shattafest UK in honour of his headline performance, was brought to an abrupt end following a serious incident outside the venue.

In a statement issued by the Shatta Movement Empire, the artiste said his thoughts were with everyone affected after the incident, which reportedly left several people injured and sparked unconfirmed reports of fatalities.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we address the unfortunate events surrounding Shattafest UK,” the statement said. “Following reports of a serious incident outside the venue, the difficult decision was made to cancel the event. Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of every single person who came to celebrate music, unity and love.”

The statement said the team was deeply saddened by reports of injuries and the alleged loss of lives, while noting that it was awaiting official confirmation from the relevant authorities.

“Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by this tragic situation,” it said, extending condolences to those affected, their families and the wider community.

The Shatta Movement Empire urged the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue and thanked emergency responders, security personnel, medical teams and venue staff for their swift response.

It also pledged full cooperation with the authorities, saying its immediate focus was on those affected rather than the cancelled performance.

“Today, our focus is not on a concert—it is on the people whose lives have been affected,” the statement said.

The annual Ghana Party in the Park, which had been promoted this year as Shattafest UK because of Shatta Wale’s appearance as the headline act, was cancelled after the incident. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding what happened.
