WAFCON 2026: Black Queens Receive GH₵20,000 betPawa Locker Room Bonus After Victory
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that each Black Queens player has received a GH₵20,000 locker room bonus from betPawa following Ghana’s 2-0 victory over Cape Verde in their opening Group C match at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The performance-based reward was presented after the Black Queens made a winning start to the tournament, with the bonus forming part of betPawa’s player incentive programme, which rewards footballers directly for victories.
Ghana claimed all three points courtesy of Doris Boaduwaa’s first-half opener before a Cape Verde own goal sealed the result, giving the Black Queens an ideal start to their WAFCON campaign while ensuring every player received the GH₵20,000 locker room bonus.

According to the GFA, the initiative is designed to motivate players throughout the tournament by rewarding success on the pitch. The programme also underscores betPawa’s continued investment in women’s football and its commitment to improving player welfare across Africa through direct financial incentives.
The Black Queens will now shift their focus to their next Group C encounter against Cameroon as they seek to maintain their winning momentum and strengthen their bid for a place in the knockout stages.
