Former CAF General Secretary Mosengo-Omba Wins DR Congo Football Presidency
Former Confederation of African Football (CAF) General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba has been elected as the new president of the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (FECOFA).
Mosengo-Omba, who resigned from his CAF position on March 29, 2026, ran as the sole candidate in Wednesday’s election. He secured a strong victory with 60 votes out of 65 cast and will serve a four-year term.
The Swiss-DRC national, who has held senior roles at both FIFA and CAF, returns to lead football in his home country after more than three decades in continental administration. His election comes after a period of normalization under a FIFA-appointed committee and is expected to bring stability and fresh momentum to Congolese football.
In his first remarks, Mosengo-Omba promised to prioritize unity, infrastructure development, and improving the national team’s performance on the continental stage.
This marks a significant homecoming for the experienced administrator following his departure from CAF last two months.
