Queiroz Names 28-Man Squad as Black Stars Begin World Cup Build-Up
Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 28-man squad for a preparation camp ahead of next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The team, made up of five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and seven forwards, opened training on Monday at Dragon Park in Cardiff. They will face Wales in a friendly on June 2.
Key returnees include defender Baba Abdul Rahman (PAOK), who has not featured for Ghana since September 2023; Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah, back after recovering from a long-term ACL injury; Rayo Vallecano’s Abdul Mumin, Saint-Étienne midfielder Augustine Boakye, and Rennes defender Alidu Seidu. Ajax youngster Paul Reverson, 20, has also been called up for assessment.
The camp serves as vital preparation for Ghana’s Group L World Cup campaign, which sees them open against Panama in Toronto before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
