A HINT TO STAY? “The Journey Starts Now”, Says Carlos Queiroz After Blackstars Round of 32 Exit At The 2026 World Cup

Carlos Queiroz, the Portuguese coach who guided Ghana’s national football team through the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has penned down a heartfelt open letter to the nation.

In the message, Queiroz shared a reflective outlook on his time with the Black Stars. “Football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn,” he wrote. He expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments while noting “the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more,” adding that “reaching a higher level should never be the destination. It should be the beginning of even greater ambitions.”

The veteran coach highlighted the need for deeper change beyond match performances. “The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch,” he stated. “Black Stars Success must start off the field, by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent.”

Queiroz thanked Ghana’s leadership and the Football Association for the opportunity, describing it as “an honor and privilege to serve the Country and the Black Stars.” He also extended gratitude to the players and staff for their “courage, commitment and unwavering dedication.”

To the fans, he acknowledged that full satisfaction was not achieved but affirmed that the team had “honoured the colours of Ghana and restored respect and credibility to the Black Stars on football’s greatest stage.”

The letter closed with appreciation for the nation and optimism for what lies ahead: “Thank you, Ghana. The journey starts now. To the future. 🇬🇭”

Queiroz assumed the role earlier in 2026 and brought extensive international expertise to the Black Stars setup. His tenure emphasized structure, unity, and preparation as Ghana competed against the world’s best.

The Ghana Football Association is now expected to either appoint a new head coach or renew Queiroz’s contract. This decision follows his appointment to the role until the end of the World Cup tournament.

Queiroz’s words leave a lasting impression which includes a blend of gratitude, realism, and hope for the continued growth of Ghanaian football.
