President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA, Kurt Okraku has issued a public message expressing gratitude to Ghanaian fans and the wider football community following the Black Stars’ elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the Round of 32 stage.

In a statement, Okraku acknowledged the disappointment of the early exit but emphasized pride in the team’s achievement of qualifying from what he described as a “difficult group” into the knockout phase.

“Our journey ended at the Round of 32 of the tournament, and as disappointing as this is for all of us, we are immensely proud of the team for the courage and passion they portrayed in representing the country,” the GFA president wrote.

Okraku noted that many had doubted the Black Stars’ ability to compete on the global stage before the tournament began. He highlighted the team’s resilience in reaching the Round of 32 as a source of national pride.

The statement praised the technical team, players, and support staff for their dedication and sacrifice. Okraku also extended thanks to the Government of Ghana, sponsors, and partners for their support throughout the campaign.

Addressing the broader football community, Okraku stressed that football involves both triumphs and learning experiences. He said the lessons from the 2026 campaign would help strengthen the Black Stars for future competitions.

“The future of Ghana football remains bright,” he stated. “The Football Association is committed to building a stronger, deeper and balanced team that will return to the Africa Cup of Nations, challenge for continental glory, and reach even greater heights on the world stage.”

Okraku urged fans not to dwell solely on the disappointment but to move forward with renewed determination to build a stronger national team.
