England Grind Out 1-0 Win Over New Zealand in Florida Warm-Up

Harry Kane scored the sole goal as England secured a 1–0 victory over New Zealand in their first pre-World Cup warm-up match. The captain headed in a cross from Djed Spence just before half-time at Raymond James Stadium. It was Kane’s 79th international goal and sufficient to secure three points for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

England possessed the majority of possession but struggled to create clear opportunities against a well-organised New Zealand side. Tuchel made several substitutions at half-time, giving minutes to younger and fringe players. Among them was 17-year-old Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha, who made a senior debut and demonstrated some promising moments.

Kane once again proved he is still the main man for England. The win gives Tuchel something to build on as they stay in Florida for another friendly. The manager will now look closely at how the squad performed and what needs fixing before the real tests start.

England open their World Cup Group L campaign against Croatia.
