Maxwell Konadu Names Ghana Squad for 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship

Ghana head coach Maxwell Konadu has unveiled his squad for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, with the Black Satellites set to launch their campaign in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Ghanaian side arrived in the Ivorian capital on Friday and immediately turned their attention to preparations, holding their first training session on Saturday ahead of their highly anticipated Group B opener against arch-rivals Nigeria on Monday, July 27.

The Black Satellites will face Burkina Faso in their second group-stage fixture before concluding their campaign against Togo. Konadu’s charges will be aiming to navigate a competitive Group B and secure a place in the knockout stages as they pursue regional honours.

Beyond the fight for the WAFU B title, the tournament represents a crucial platform for Ghana’s young talents to gain valuable international experience and build the foundations for future success.

The competition also doubles as a key qualification pathway for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana is scheduled to host.

With the continental tournament on the horizon, the WAFU B championship offers Konadu and his technical team an important opportunity to assess their squad, strengthen team cohesion and measure their progress against some of the most promising young players in West Africa.

The Black Satellites will now look to make a strong start against Nigeria as they begin their pursuit of regional glory and build towards a major continental assignment on home soil.
