WAFCON 2026: Sports Ministry Rallies Behind Black Queens

Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation has thrown its support behind the Black Queens ahead of their campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In an official statement, the Ministry urged the national women’s team to draw inspiration from their rich history in the competition as they seek continental success.

The Ministry highlighted the Black Queens’ bronze-medal finish at the 2025 WAFCON, praising the team for consistently demonstrating dedication, skill and passion on the international stage.

“Your storied history in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations reflects your dedication, skill, and passion,” the statement said. “With a bronze medal in 2025, you have consistently demonstrated that you are the true pride of Africa, inspiring us all with your unwavering spirit on the field.”

The message also assured the players and technical team of strong backing from supporters across Ghana and the continent, with the government and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation expressing their pride in the team.

“Millions of fans back home in Ghana and across the continent stand firmly behind you, cheering every move you make,” the Ministry said.

The Black Queens have been urged to carry the hopes of the nation into the tournament as Ghana looks to build on the momentum from their impressive 2025 campaign.

The Ministry called on Ghanaians to unite behind the team and provide the support needed as the players pursue glory on the continental stage.

“Let’s rally behind our Queens and show them the full support of Ghana! Together, we believe in you. Go Queens and make Ghana proud!!!!” the statement concluded.
