Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has departed for Washington, D.C., where she will participate in the Sister Cities International 70th Anniversary Homecoming Conference on July 23, 2026.
The Vice President will serve as Special Guest of Honour and deliver the opening plenary keynote address on the theme, “Forging Stronger Partnerships in Africa for Sustainable Economic Development through Sister Cities Global Partnerships Agenda.”
Her participation is expected to mark a historic milestone, as she becomes the first leader from outside the United States to deliver the opening keynote at a global Sister Cities International conference.
The conference will bring together government officials, mayors, diplomats, business leaders, development partners and civil society representatives from around the world to advance international cooperation, citizen diplomacy and sustainable development.
The programme will feature high-level policy discussions, investment forums and networking sessions, alongside a dedicated Africa Forum focused on deepening partnerships between African communities and their counterparts globally.
