WAFCON 2026: Global Broadcasters Set to Bring Morocco Tournament to Millions Worldwide
The 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is set to reach a global audience, with several leading international and African broadcasters securing rights to showcase the tournament, which begins in Morocco on Sunday, July 26.
CAF partners beIN Sports and the United Kingdom’s Channel 4 will broadcast the competition, while DAZN will provide coverage across Europe. Other major broadcasters involved include Ziggo, CANAL+ in French-speaking Africa, and several prominent African television and media networks.
Host broadcaster SNRT will provide coverage in Morocco, while South Africa’s SABC and AZAM Media will serve audiences in parts of East Africa, including Tanzania. BBC Radio will also broadcast selected matches to listeners across a number of Sub-Saharan African territories.
More than 18 Free-to-Air (FTA) broadcasters are expected to make the tournament accessible to viewers across the continent. They include KBC in Kenya, AfroSport in Nigeria, MaxTV in Ghana, RTI in Côte d’Ivoire, RTCV in Cape Verde, ZNBC in Zambia and RTB in Burkina Faso.
The tournament officially gets underway in Rabat on Sunday, with Algeria facing Senegal in the opening fixture at 18:00 local time (17:00 GMT). Host nation Morocco will then take on Kenya at 21:00 local time (20:00 GMT and 23:00 East Africa Time).
The 2026 edition marks a major expansion of the women’s continental championship, with the competition featuring 16 national teams for the first time. The increased participation is expected to deliver a more competitive and compelling tournament as Africa’s leading women’s football nations battle for continental glory.
The winners will also receive an increased prize of USD 2 million, further underlining the growing investment and commercial value of women’s football on the continent.
For the first time, fans in the United Kingdom will be able to follow the WAFCON live through CAF’s partnership with Channel 4. DAZN has also secured the broadcasting rights for Germany and surrounding territories, marking its first involvement in the tournament.
CAF’s long-standing partnership with beIN Sports will ensure comprehensive coverage across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, while CANAL+ will broadcast the competition across several French-speaking countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
With extensive broadcast coverage spanning Africa, Europe, the MENA region and other international markets, the 2026 WAFCON is poised to attract one of the tournament’s largest global audiences as the continent’s top women’s teams compete for African football’s premier prize.
