GFA Thanks Malta Guinness as Four-Year Women’s Premier League Sponsorship Ends

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended heartfelt appreciation to Malta Guinness for its pivotal role as headline sponsor of the Ghana Women’s Premier League over the past four years, describing the partnership as instrumental in advancing women’s football in the country.

In a statement, GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq., highlighted the beverage company’s significant contributions to the league’s growth and visibility.

“Since coming on board as headline sponsors, Malta Guinness has contributed immensely to the growth of the women’s game through financial support, branding, visibility, and various promotional activities that enhanced the league’s development,” Addo said.

The sponsorship, which officially ends this June, has been credited with elevating the profile and competitiveness of the Women’s Premier League. Under the partnership, the league witnessed increased attention, improved standards of play, and greater recognition for both players and clubs on the national and international stages.

On behalf of the GFA, league clubs, and stakeholders, Addo expressed sincere thanks for the company’s dedication.

“Our relationship with Malta Guinness has been so successful that both parties are of the view that the giant beverage company will still play some form of significant role in Ghana Football during the season,” he added.

The conclusion of the sponsorship marks the end of an important chapter in the development of women’s football in Ghana. The GFA noted that the partnership has helped strengthen the league and create a more robust platform for female athletes.

The Association is now preparing to unveil a new and improved sponsorship arrangement for the Women’s Premier League ahead of the 2026/27 season. Details of the incoming sponsor are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Malta Guinness’s four-year tenure as headline sponsor is widely regarded as a success story in corporate support for Ghanaian sports, contributing meaningfully to the empowerment of women in football and the overall growth of the domestic game.
