GOC Launches Mediation Tribunal, Reaffirms Strategic Focus on Athletes

The Ghana Olympic Committee has established a new Mediation Tribunal to resolve internal federation disputes and reduce costly litigation, the GOC President announced at today’s Annual General Assembly.

The tribunal, approved by the Executive Board, will handle petitions from aggrieved parties within federations and promote mediated, mutually acceptable solutions. Federations are also encouraged to create their own dispute resolution committees. The move follows recent conflicts in several sports including taekwondo, rugby, weightlifting, swimming and table tennis.

In his address, the President reiterated the six strategic focus areas adopted after last year’s Koforidua retreat and launched in January 2026, placing athletes at the centre, building capacity, empowering women, promoting inclusive leadership with integrity, securing funding, and building strategic partnerships.

He also reported progress on GOC office renovations, asset auctions to free up space, and an ongoing IT systems upgrade to strengthen cybersecurity and efficiency.

The Olympafrica project in Amasaman is set to resume construction by end of June with $100,000 budgeted for a multi-purpose hall.
