PSG Claim Back-to-Back Champions League Glory

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Arsenal 1-1 (4-3 on penalties) at the Puskás Aréna to claim their second consecutive UEFA Champions League title.

Arsenal took the lead through Kai Havertz in the 6th minute, but Ousmane Dembélé equalized from the penalty spot in the 65th. After a goalless extra time, PSG held their nerve in the shootout, with Marquinhos lifting the trophy after Gabriel Magalhães missed for Arsenal. Gianluigi Donnarumma was outstanding in goal.

The victory marks PSG’s second straight European crown, following last season’s 5-0 win over Inter Milan. Without Kylian Mbappé, Luis Enrique’s rebuilt side  featuring stars like Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué  has proven even stronger.

“This is for the team, the project and the fans,” said Enrique. Captain Marquinhos added: “Back to back… it’s unbelievable.”

PSG overcame Bayern Munich in the semi finals and continue their domestic dominance with another Ligue 1 title. For Arsenal, it was a painful end to a strong campaign.
